Staffordshire Police Open Day 2019
Once again, Staffordshire Police is throwing open its doors and welcoming members of the public to its Open Day.
This year’s event is taking place on Sunday 8 September from 11am – 4pm at force HQ on Weston Road, Stafford and entry is free of charge.
As in previous years, there are tons of things to inform and entertain families as they find out more about the force and the work it does to keep people safe. As an added bonus this year, there’s be a chance to say ‘ello, ‘ello, ‘ello to our new #Pup2PD puppies, Maya and Maunders, and PD Cooper will be making an appearance and meeting visitors.
For people who want to get an idea of what it’s like to speed along on ‘blues and twos’ there’s the chance to be driven round a course in a police car in our police car experience. There will also be a range of exciting (and sometimes noisy) demonstrations of how officers tackle different situations such as using chainsaws to break down doors and the popular public order simulation.
Our colleagues from the fire service will be there to show how we work together to rescue people trapped in cars and the dog support unit will be showing off how our trained police dogs search for drugs and guns and catch the baddies.
As well as the demonstrations there will be stalls for our forensic science department, dress up stands, officers from the Rural and Wildlife Crime Unit and representatives from community agencies who support local crime initiatives and victims of crime.
Chief Constable Gareth Morgan said: “I’m really looking forward to opening our doors once again to members of the public on 8 September and showing people what we do. Our Open Day is a great opportunity for people to have a look behind the scenes and find out more about what we do to protect local communities and help people to keep themselves safe.
“It’s important that people get a chance to see for themselves what we do every day on the streets of Staffordshire. There’s a lot for Staffordshire Police to be proud of and the Open Day is an opportunity for the force, not only to showcase the good work it does, but also to meet members of the local community and welcome them for a good day out.”
