Gordon Banks Dies Aged 81
Gordon Banks best known as England’s 1966 World Cup-winning goalkeeper has died aged 81. His family said ” It is with great sadness that we announce that Gordon passed away peacefully overnight”
In December 2015, it was announced he was receiving treatment for kidney cancer.
Gordon played in every game of the 1966 World Cup, and is well known for the 4-2 victory over West Germany in the final at Wembley.
