Staffordshire Commissioner to review Police performance at public meeting

Officer numbers, local policing and improvements in Police contact are among the topics Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams will discuss with Chief Constable Chris Noble at a public meeting taking place on Wednesday 17th May.

During the Police Public Performance Meeting, which will be broadcast live online from 2pm, the Commissioner will ask the Chief Constable about the progress the force is making to deliver the priorities detailed in his Police & Crime Plan.

Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams said: “At Wednesday’s meeting, I’ll be asking the Chief Constable, on behalf of the people of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, about the force’s performance in key areas such as Police contact, officer numbers and tackling the issues that matter most to our communities.

“I would encourage anyone wanting to find out more about any of these topics to follow the meeting, which will be live-streamed online and available to watch in full afterwards.”

Topics discussed will include:

·       Improvements in Police contact, including a new Live Chat function to allow the public to report non-urgent crimes digitally, freeing up more staff to respond to 999 calls

·       The increasing demand on the 999 and 101 services, and how the force is working to ensure response times remain stable despite this

·       The force’s progress in responding to the areas for improvement identified by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) in March 2022

·        Officer recruitment, which saw the force reach its Police Uplift target of over 1,900 officers in March 2023
