The women’s winner of last year’s Hanley Economic Potters Arf Marathon, is urging runners from far and wide to register for this year’s event on 12 June 2022 – and attempt to beat her time.
Dominique Searle, from Northwich, was the female winner in September, with an impressive time of 1:26:41.
Dominique Searle said:
“I have never experienced so much support from members of the public as I did during the Potters Arf. It was definitely needed as it is a tough course and at times I wanted to walk but the crowd kept cheering me on and I just kept on going.
“I never thought I would be the first lady across the line, and I was astounded and so proud to take part in such an iconic race. I would definitely encourage all runners to sign up now!”
Cllr Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health said:
“The Potters Arf is one of the most challenging courses in the road race calendar, with runners coming from afar to take part in this unique event.
“Dominique set an incredible time last year and has laid out the challenge for future competitors to beat her time.”
The Potters ’Arf is one of the most unique, community-spirited races in the UK. It has amazing support across Stoke-on-Trent, a wonderful atmosphere at the city centre finish, special medals and fantastic challenges.
It also raises thousands of pounds for local charities – including Douglas Macmillan Hospice, who help adults and children with life limiting illnesses and The Alice Charity – who work to improve the lives of families in crisis.
