Fire crews attend recycling truck blaze after explosion
Firefighters worked to extinguish a well-alight recycling truck in Newcastle-under-Lyme yesterday.
Crews from Sandyford and Newcastle were dispatched to Quarry Bank Road at 7.47am yesterday (3rd February 2022), following reports of a vehicle fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the rear of a recycling truck to be well alight.
Staffordshire Police also attended and closed off the road whilst crews worked to make the area safe.
Two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze at 8.40am – which was later deemed to be an accidental ignition as a result of an explosion within the waste collection.
No-one was injured.
The truck was escorted to a safe location and checked over with a thermal scanner.
Firefighters made sure the area was safe before departing at 9.10am.
