Met Office issues weather warnings as Storm Barra is set to hit the UK

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain during the morning, some heavy. This clearing to brighter skies by early afternoon with sunny spells and blustery showers. A cold day especially given the windy conditions. Maximum temperature 8 °C. Cloudy overnight with further blustery showers, these easing during the second half of the night with clear spells developing by dawn, a frost developing in sheltered locations. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Tuesday will bring a bright and cold start but clouding over as Storm Barra arrives. Becoming very windy with gales in places. Outbreaks of heavy rain with blustery showers following. Maximum temperature 4 °C. We may see snow on high ground in the North Staffordshire area.
The Met Office says there is a chance of more power outages and a “slight chance” rural communities could be cut off.
