UHNM fruit and veg stall extends range to help NHS staff

Staff at UHNM can now also buy bread and oatcakes from the fruit and veg stall at Royal Stoke.

Family-run business K&L Fresh Fruit and Veg have extended their range and plan to add even more basic groceries to their larder in the near future.

Lorraine Whitehead, Director of Estates, Facilities and PFI said: “They say an army marches on its stomach, and we certainly need a big and well-fed army to win this fight. Our hope is that this development will go some way to alleviating staff stress during the coronavirus crisis by giving them better access to wholesome food. K&L extending their range means our staff don’t have to worry quite as much about rushing to the shops only to find empty shelves.”

K&L is run by Ade Sumnell with the assistance of a team which includes son and daughter Kurt and Alisha (pictured).

Alisha said: “We’re really happy to be able to help staff out in any way we can during this time of need. We know they’re really busy and we want to support them. We’ve been really busy so far, which just shows what a need there is for staff to be able to pick up fresh produce quickly. We’ve had lots of lovely feedback from people who’ve said that they don’t know what they’d do without us, so that’s been really nice to hear.”
