Third patient dies at Royal Stoke Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19

In a statement issued today John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, said:

“Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient, 89, had underlying health conditions and died on Friday 20 March.

“His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

This is the third patient to die of the virus at the Royal Stoke Hospital.
