TOWIE and Eastenders stars urge fans to support charity game at BET365 Stadium
A former TOWIE star and a former Eastenders actor paid a flying visit to Stoke-on-Trent to promote ticket sales for a celebrity football match taking place at Stoke City’s BET365 stadium, at 3.00pm on Sunday 26th May, 2019.
The game will see a host of famous faces including Danny Dyer, Stephen Graham, Calum Best and Lee Ryan taking to the field to raise funds for Staffordshire based charity Caudwell Children.
Caudwell Children provide practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families.
And to help boost ticket sales for the event James ‘Arg’ Argent, the English television personality best known for being a former cast member on the ITVBe reality series The Only Way Is Essex, and Danny-Boy Hatchard, known for playing Danny Dyer’s son Lee Carter in the BBC soap opera Eastenders, paid a flying visit to the Vodafone call centre on Festival Park, in Hanley.
The pair posed for selfies with staff and explained to them their love of football and why it’s important to support the charity by attending the game.
Argent a keen Spurs fan says his favourite football moment came only a few weeks ago. As he explained: “Seeing Spurs beat Manchester City and Ajax to get to the Champions League was amazing, a real highlight.
“Like lots of young boys I wanted to be a footballer when I grew up so to get the chance to step out at the BET365 will be a huge thrill.
“My preparation hasn’t been what you would expect so I don’t know how much game time I’ll get, but I’ll definitely be there.”
Hatchard, a West Ham United fan who still attends games with his father, said it’s a dream to play at professional football grounds but that it was important to support a good cause. “Yes it’s really special to play at top football grounds,” he said. “But the lads who play regularly do it because we’re helping worthwhile causes, like Caudwell Children.
“They provide invaluable support to disabled children ensuring that they have access to the equipment, therapies and treatments that the need to lead happy, active and independent lives.”
The event is being organised by Sellebrity Soccer, a company run by former AFC Wimbledon record goalscorer Kevin Cooper.
The former striker is delighted to be raising money for Caudwell Children and says his business has gone from strength to strength since it was established seven years ago. As he enthused: “We now play 9-10 games a year and we recently got a crowd of 15,000 at Goodison Park, which was fantastic.
“This is the first time that we’ve played at Stoke but the lads have played at many other grounds including Swansea, Leicester, Norwich and Watford.
“It’s a brilliant family fun day out which will raise vital funds for Caudwell Children, so I would urge anyone who loves football, or loves getting selfies with celebrities, to get their ticket now.”
Tickets are priced at £6 for children and £12 for adults and can be bought online at: www.scfcdirect.com/events.aspx
