Boris Johnson to address nation on new lockdown plans at 8pm tonight

The UK government has said that the Prime Minister Boris Johnson will give a TV address to the nation on new lockdown plans for England at 8pm tonight (4th January 2021).

Scotland has just announced a national lockdown including shutting schools from midnight tonight until the end of January 2021.

A spokesman said “The spread of the new variant of COVID-19 has led to rapidly escalating case numbers across the country. The Prime Minister is clear that further steps must now be taken to arrest this rise and to protect the NHS and save lives. He will set those out this evening. “

No details have been released yet but it is thought a tier five could be implemented and it would look like the first national lockdown in March.
