Bottle Smoke Film Festival 2019

Finding that there was a lack of festivals within the North Staffordshire area and being part of the film industry for several years, Bottle Smoke was born.  The aim is to screen films and at the same time inspiring filmmakers to continue in the industry.

Judges

PETER RUDGE – Peter has more than 25 years experience in the film industry and in 2011 was a co-founder of the spin-out company Grand Independent.  He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and The British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society.

BARRY J C PURVES – Barry is an Oscar and BAFTA nominated director usually, but not exclusively, working with animation. He has animated and directed many series for television such as The Wind in the Willows, Rupert Bear and most recently, the award-winning Toby’s traveling Circus. He has worked in significant roles on such feature films as Mars Attacks! and King Kong.

RAY JOHNSON MBE – Ray is Emeritus Professor of Film Heritage and Documentary at Staffordshire University. He is a Director of the Staffordshire Film Archive, the Mitchell Arts Centre Trust and the Media Archive for Central England.

Awards & Prizes

Best Drama, Best Sci/fi & Horror, Best Animation, and Best Documentary. 
Prizes will be given for each category.  From our product sponsors who include MAGIX, SHOTLISTER and Stan Winston School of Character Arts.

We will also present trophies hand made by Burslem Pottery.
